Blood, Sweat &
Tears -
work ethic

Believe it or
not, your parents’ and teachers’ constant reminders are good for you. You
won’t let them know it, but you may secretly rely on it to keep you on track.
Well here’s the news – no one at college will serve as your personal beeper.
And definitely in the work world, there won't be anyone tapping you on the
shoulder or in your face to keep you on track. Just like with study skills, there will be no one breathing down your neck or
looking over your shoulder pushing you to do well.
Remember, high school and college should
not just be about your slaving over books. Equally important are the experiences
and the activities that you participate in outside the classroom. In high
school, these activities may include sports, school plays, or volunteer work. In
college your options mushroom: theater productions, author readings, guest
lectures, school newspaper, and more – much more. College outside the
classroom should take your world and expand it beyond your wildest dreams.
