Violence -- the word is cruel and it is real -- on our streets, in our cities and in our schools. How do we combat this and make it safe for our kids?

Get involved in your child's life and stay involved in his school life and in her personal and social life. Set limits that are rational with privileges that are earned. We do no favors to our kids by giving them everything with no responsibilities. Expect excellence and provide the atmosphere that will encourage this journey. Teach through example by searching for excellence in your own life.

Staying involved is how we combat this. Watching out for our kids and their friends is the safeguard.
