Parents' Corner --
Disabilities

What
is not often openly recognized is that there is a grieving cycle involved in a
disability and it is different than the cycle due to a death, because it
reoccurs during the lives of the student and the family. The commonly accepted
steps in the grieving cycle are shock, fear, anger, denial, sorrow and
acceptance. You will need to recognize and accept this recurring cycle in your
life and that of your teen’s if your teen wishes to fulfill his/her potential
as an individual.
